General Director of Environmental Development, Head of Sustainable Development Unit, Head of Gender Equality Unit , Ministry of State for Environmental Affairs, Arab Republic of Egypt
She is a researcher, trainer, and expert in the field of mainstreaming gender issues in environmental work for 22 years, And sustainable development field for 20 years of experience. Engineer Samah has been working in designing public policies, action plans related to sustainable development, green economy, women empowerment and circular economy strategies on the local and regional level.
Her core motivation is embedding sustainable development philosophy and culture in the Egyptian context, in particular strategic, policy planning, project implementation, capacity building programs and evaluation mechanisms.
In 2015, she was a member of a team working on preparing the environment pillar for the Egyptian Vision 2030 for sustainable development, which was developed by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development. And she participates in updating the Egyptian Vision 2030 by mainstreaming the environmental dimension into the main pillars in the strategy.
In 2018, Team member for developing Gender Equality and Environment strategy in Egypt, Gender and Climate Change strategy and Database for Gender and Water Resources.
In 2021, she participated in developing sustainability criteria guidelines for greening the national budget in cooperation with the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development.
Her last position was COP 27’s Sustainability Officer; she was responsible for developing the sustainability plans and criteria and capacity building for all staff and volunteers working in COP 27 about sustainability and carbon reduction.
