Salma Barhouni is a PhD researcher at BRGM and the Laboratoire d’Économie d’Orléans (LEO), affiliated with the Chair of Environmental and Mineral Economics (CEME). Her research focuses on critical minerals and their role in the energy transition, with particular attention to mineral supply, economic feasibility, and international trade. Her doctoral work combines economic analysis and quantitative modelling to examine the availability and accessibility of mineral resources required for low-carbon technologies. She holds a Master’s degree in International Economics from the University of Orléans and has a background in applied economics, with research interests spanning mineral economics, energy transition, international trade, and environmental economics.
