Founder and CEO – agroCO2
Igor Rombaut is a Belgian chemical engineer and entrepreneur who grew up in Bulgaria and completed his university studies at the University of Sydney and ETH Zurich. He founded agroCO2 in 2019, which has become a significant European player in the extraction of botanicals, proteins, concentration of active ingredients and formulations for the nutraceutical and functional food industries. The company utilizes supercritical CO2 extraction, which is one of the most circular technologies available to date. The company works with a wide variety of partners from around the world, many of which are global leaders in nutraceutical and flavouring ingredient categories. Currently construction is in progress at the existing facility for a 5-fold production capacity increase. The company also has purchased a facility in Sindos Industrial Area, Northern Greece where it plans to invest in novel and patented technologies for production of various nutraceutical ingredients. Igor enjoys hiking, sailing, skiing and racquet sports in his free time.
