Olfat is a senior environmental policy and programme management specialist with more than 25 years of experience in environmental governance, marine and coastal management, and multilateral environmental cooperation. She has extensive expertise in strategic planning, programme leadership, policy development, environmental assessments, and regional cooperation, with a strong focus on the Mediterranean.Since joining UNEP/MAP in 2021, Olfat has led the implementation of the GEF-funded MedProgramme, one of the largest environmental programmes in the Mediterranean. Since 2023, she has also served as Head of the MED POL Unit, providing strategic and operational leadership for the implementation of pollution-related protocols and regional action plans under the MAP/Barcelona Convention.Her career includes extensive experience in policy and technical analysis, programme monitoring and evaluation, reporting, partnership development, and resource mobilization. Prior to joining UNEP/MAP, she held senior positions at the Ministry of Environment of Lebanon, where she led national environmental initiatives and represented Lebanon in international negotiations under multilateral environmental agreements.Olfat brings a strong combination of policy expertise, programme leadership, international cooperation, and strategic partnership-building, with a proven track record of advancing environmental priorities at national, regional, and international levels.
