Dean, Non-Commissioned Officers’ (NCO) Academy; Professor of Engineering and Defense Materials , Hellenic Army Academy
Professor Dionysios Mouzakis Dean of Hellenic NCOs Academy, Professor of Engineering at the Hellenic Army Academy is an academic and engineer with research interests in materials science, computational engineering, structural integrity, additive manufacturing, artificial intelligence and emerging engineering technologies. His work has included topics related to advanced materials, engineering analysis, digital design and technologies with both civil and defence applications featuring more than 100 papers and book chapters. He is also interested in the way new tools such as artificial intelligence, simulation and advanced manufacturing can support engineering education, research and technological development.
A recurring theme in his work is the connection between scientific knowledge and practical engineering problems. Rather than viewing technology as an end in itself, he is particularly interested in how engineering, data-driven methods and interdisciplinary research can contribute to more capable, resilient and sustainable systems. At the Gaia Symposium, this perspective is reflected in a broader question: how can we use increasingly powerful technologies while keeping engineering focused on real human, societal and environmental needs?
